Contrary to the well-established view that the model’s career ends on its thirtieth birthday, there are many examples in the fashion industry that refute this.
One of these was Daphne Self, born in 1928, who still works in the fashion industry today.
Daphne boasts one of the longest careers in the history of the fashion industry, because at 91, the old woman does not cease to appear in advertising campaigns.
The model plans to live to be a hundred years old and continue its career until death.
Despite his age, Self not only participates in photo shoots, but also defiles on the runways, closing the shows of Jean Paul Gaultier and Dolce & Gabbana.
Daphne's career began at 21 - after the end of the war, she joined the London-based Gaby Young Agency and began studying the model profession.
After Self married Jim Smith, she paused her career and took up family. But after the death of her husband Daphne, who at the time was 70 years old, she resumed participation in filming and shows.
After her triumphant return, the model got on the cover of Vogue, and also took part in the advertising shows of such famous brands:
- Dare to Wear,
- TK Maxx.
Sincere love and dedication to their profession helped Self become one of the unique models of modern times. It remains to hope that Daphne will manage to realize his dream and live to be a hundred years old, while remaining part of the fashion industry.
